This gorgeous book celebrates Brooklyn through the use of the letters of the alphabet, numbers and 42 beautiful photographs. The photographs depict what makes Brooklyn special, fun and a state of mind. Each letter is used in a fun and informative alliterative sentence describing a photo. More than anything, what informs this book is the authors' desire to foster dialogue between the reader and the child and exploration of this wonderful place called Brooklyn. Each photo is accompanied by an informative footnote to facilitate conversation and further learning. A hallmark of this book is its use of language. The authors have used words and images not commonly associated with alphabet books. As educators and parents, the authors know that children can learn the word decorative as readily as dog with appropriate guidance from a reader.

More recently he has built concrete and bronze sculptures in six New York City playgrounds. Lynas has worked in New York City as a freelance designer since 1970. He has published a new book of photographs called The ABC's of Central Park, an Alphabet Guidebook, available through LynasPress. For twenty years Mr. Lynas was an adjunct professor of Design at Pratt of Brooklyn and tutors privately. More recent  Lynas, the father of three,  has published "The ABCs of Brooklyn, An Alphabet Guidebook For All Ages" with photographer Peter Vadnai.
